SUMMARY:Personal Data in the Context of Mobile Networks
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nOver the last decade\, the mobile phone has become the primary means for people to access the internet whenever they want and wherever they go. This has led not only to alternative internet-based communications services\, but also to an explosion of third party online services that make intensive use of personal information via the mobile phone. \nThe course explains what data is collected from users across the mobile ecosystem and how it is stored\, used and accessed\, as well as the related data protection and privacy implications for government\, industry and other stakeholders. \nCourse Objectives  \n\nUnderstand the essential elements of a mobile network and how they influence the kinds of consumer information operators can access or determine.\nDiscover what operators do with consumers’ personal data and how data privacy laws\, including those concerned with cross-border data flows\, affect the services offered by mobile operators.\nDevelop an understanding of the data privacy issues raised by new technologies such as 5G\, big data analytics\, digital identity and the Internet of Things.\n\nCourse Enrolment Criteria \nThis course is open to: \n\nRegulators\nPolicymakers\nRepresentatives from academia and international organisations working on regulatory or policy issues\n\nWe cannot accept applications from individuals working in the private sector or those not involved in policy or regulation. \nCourse Completion Certificates \nAll our courses are certified by the United Kingdom Telecoms Academy (UKTA) and accredited for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). \n \n  \nThis course equates to 6 hours of CPD training. \n  \n  \nTo qualify for a course completion certificate\, you must view all the course sessions and answer correctly all the quiz questions you will find as you progress through the sessions. You will also need to fill out the course survey. \nCourse Structure and Study Time \nThe course consists of seven short sessions that you will gain access to as soon as you start the course. As this course is unmoderated\, you can study it at any time. It should take you no more than two to three hours of study time per week to complete the course in two weeks. However\, after enrolment\, you will have one month to complete this course. \nIf you have any special needs regarding this training course\, please us let us know via our contact form so we can get in touch to discuss how your needs can be met.

SUMMARY:The importance of sustainability and ESG to the mobile industry
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nSustainability is one of the defining issues of our generation. Consumers\, employees and regulators are increasingly vocal regarding their expectations for companies to act responsibly and to demonstrate how they create value to society. \nOperating in a responsible and sustainable way is not just about doing the right thing for society or the environment — it also makes business sense in today’s commercial environment. This course looks at why operating responsibly is so important for companies in the mobile sector\, and highlights how the industry is moving towards more effective and consistent approaches to measuring and communicating ESG performance. \nUnfortunately\, previous reporting approaches were fragmented and burdensome\, due to the multitude of global ESG reporting standards and an ‘alphabet soup’ of standard-setters. This was hindering meaningful action and transformation. However\, the sector has now defined at set of industry-specific ESG KPIs to streamline the process. \nThis course explains why ESG KPIs are important\, details the new KPIs that have been designed specifically for the mobile industry and explains the practical steps operators are taking to implement these metrics in their ESG reports. \nCourse Objectives \n\nLearn about the key elements of operating responsibly\nUnderstand the main challenges for mobile operators\nLearn about specific ESG KPIs that have been designed for the mobile industry\nUnderstand the value of the ESG KPIs\nLearn about operators’ ESG-related projects and initiatives via a number of case studies\n\nCourse Enrolment Criteria \nThis course is open to: \n\nRegulators\nPolicymakers\nRepresentatives from academia and international organisations working on regulatory or policy issues\n\nWe cannot accept applications from individuals working in the private sector or those not involved in policy or regulation. \nCourse Completion Certificates \nAll our courses are certified by the United Kingdom Telecoms Academy (UKTA) and accredited for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). \n \n  \nThis course equates to 10 hours of CPD training. \n  \n  \nTo qualify for a course completion certificate\, you must view all the course sessions and answer correctly all the quiz questions you will find as you progress through the sessions. You will also need to fill out the course survey. \nCourse Structure and Study Time \nThe course consists of five short sessions that you will gain access to as soon as you start the course.

SUMMARY:An introduction to Non-Terrestrial Networks
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nThis course is designed to provide policymakers and regulators with an in-depth understanding of Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) and their integration with 5G technology. The course covers NTNs that are designed to deliver broadband to homes and business in order to compete with Fibre and Fixed Wireless Access solutions\, such as Starlink\, Eutelsat OneWeb and Amazon Kuiper. However\, the main focus of the course is on direct-to-device (D2D) solutions. These are an emerging class of satellite services that can establish a direct connection between a satellite and a smartphone. \nCourse Objectives \n\nGain insights into the different types of NTNs that are in use and under development\nUnderstand the key technologies associated with NTNs\, including those used for direct-to-device services\nIdentify the regulatory and security challenges associated with the deployment and management of NTNs in the context of 5G networks\n\nCourse Enrolment Criteria \nThis course is open to: \n\nRegulators\nPolicymakers\nRepresentatives from academia and international organisations working on regulatory or policy issues\n\nWe cannot accept applications from individuals working in the private sector or those not involved in policy or regulation. \nCourse Completion Certificates \nAll our courses are certified by the United Kingdom Telecoms Academy (UKTA) and accredited for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). \n \n  \nThis course equates to six hours of CPD training. \n  \n  \nTo qualify for a course completion certificate\, you must view all the course sessions and answer correctly all the quiz questions you will find as you progress through the sessions. You will also need to fill out the course survey. \nCourse Structure and Study Time \nThe course consists of four sessions and you will gain access to all of them on the course start date. \nIt should not take you more than two to three hours of study time per week to complete the course in two weeks. You will have\, however\, four weeks to complete it. \nIf you have any special needs regarding this training course\, please us let us know via our contact form so we can get in touch to discuss how your needs can be met.
