DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the GSMA Capacity Building Induction Pathway Programme (IPW). \nBackground \nThe continual rapid pace of change across the mobile sector has presented challenges for regulatory authorities as knowledge gaps have continued to grow in key mobile policy areas. Since 2014\, the GSMA’s Capacity Building Programme has sought to address this by designing training courses exclusively for policymakers and regulators working within the telecommunications field. \nThese short courses – accredited by the UKTA – have been delivered to thousands of regulatory professionals from over 180 countries. Training is provided both in person and remotely\, and the GSMA work with various partners worldwide to ensure the delivery of impactful training at scale. \nInduction Pathway (IPW)  \nThe invitation only pathway is new for 2024. DESCRIPTION:Overview \nThe need for humanitarian assistance is on the rise. A recent report from the UN OCHA estimates that 235 million people worldwide currently require assistance and protection. \nNew partnership models and innovative tools and approaches are crucial to address this growing humanitarian challenge. As a result\, mobile technology is now critical to the success of disaster response efforts and the delivery of humanitarian aid. Policymakers and regulators need to better understand how they can support these efforts through effective policies. \nThis three-week course looks at the role of policymakers and mobile operators in disaster response management and the effect they can have on the acceleration of aid delivery during and after a humanitarian crisis. \nCourse Objectives  \n\nLearn how improved coordination between mobile operators\, governments\, regulatory authorities and the humanitarian community can mitigate risks during times of crisis.\nDiscover how regulators around the world are adopting flexible approaches to policy during emergencies to positively impact response efforts.\nUnderstand and explore how mobile platforms can digitise humanitarian aid delivery channels.\n\nCourse Enrolment Criteria \nThis course is open to: \n\nRegulators\nPolicymakers\nRepresentatives from academia and international organisations working on regulatory or policy issues\n\nWe cannot accept applications from individuals working in the private sector or those not involved in policy or regulation. \nCourse Completion Certificates \nAll our courses are certified by the United Kingdom Telecoms Academy (UKTA) and accredited for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). \n \n  \nThis course equates to 10 hours of CPD training. \n  \n  \nTo qualify for a course completion certificate\, you must view all the course sessions and answer correctly all the quiz questions you will find as you progress through the sessions.
