Policymakers and regulators play a critical role in establishing enabling frameworks that encourage sustainable capital deployment by operators and ecosystem partners\, ensuring long-term digital competitiveness and societal benefit.\n\n\n \n\n\nThis two-day course will provide an overview of mobile network investment\, exploring the evolution of the mobile ecosystem\, the strategic value of infrastructure and regional market dynamics. It will also cover key investment drivers\, regulatory and taxation challenges and policy measures to support a more sustainable environment for mobile infrastructure investment.\n\n\n\n\nCourse Objectives\n\n\nUnderstand the foundational role of mobile connectivity in shaping and supporting digital economies.\n\n\nAnalyse the structure of the mobile ecosystem\, identifying the functions of key players such as operators\, infrastructure providers\, device manufacturers\, content/app providers and cloud/hyperscale companies.\n\n\nEvaluate the transition from traditional\, vertically integrated telecommunications models to modern platform-based approaches within the industry.\n\n\nTrace the technological evolution from 2G/3G voice and SMS services to advanced technologies such as 4G\, 5G\, 6G\, IoT\, AI and cloudification.\n\n\nExamine the impact of digital platforms and multisided market dynamics on policy\, investment and national competitiveness.\n\n\nDiscuss the strategic importance of creating a sustainable investment environment for mobile infrastructure.\n\n\n\nCourse Enrolment Criteria \nThis course is open to: \n\nRegulators\nPolicymakers\nRepresentatives from academia and international organisations working on regulatory or policy issues\n\nWe cannot accept applications from individuals working in the private sector or those not involved in policy or regulation. \n\nCourse Completion Certificates\n\nAll of our courses are certified by the UK Telecoms Academy (UKTA) and can be used as evidence of professional development.\n\n\nTo qualify for a course completion certificate\, you must view all the course sessions and answer correctly all the quiz questions you will find as you progress through the sessions. You will also need to fill out the course survey.\n\n\nYou do not have to complete a final project to earn a course completion certificate but we strongly encourage you to create one. Putting together a final project will give you an opportunity to reflect on the principles covered during the course and help you discover how they could be applied to your own country. If you submit a final project the course trainer will provide you with valuable feedback that you may find useful in your day-to-day work.\n\n\n \n\nCourse Structure and Study Time\n\n\nAll of our courses are certified by the United Kingdom Telecoms Academy (UKTA) and can be used as evidence of professional development. \nTo qualify for a course completion certificate\, you must view all of the course sessions and answer all of the quiz questions correctly. You will also need to fill out the course survey. \nYou do not have to complete a final project to earn a course completion certificate\, but we strongly encourage you to create one. If you submit a final project\, the course trainer will provide valuable feedback that you may find useful. \nCourse Structure and Study Time \nThe course consists of eight sessions\, and you will gain access to all of them on the course start date. You can ask questions about the content of the course during the live chat sessions as well as on the course forum. \nThere will be two live chat session during this course. You should view all course content before the last chat session takes place. However\, you will have three extra weeks to complete the course. If after nine weeks you have not completed the course\, you will have to start it again next time it is offered. \nIt should not take you more than two to three hours of study time per week to complete the course in six weeks. \nIf you decide to submit a final project\, it should take you four to six hours to complete. You will have nine weeks to submit your final project.
