Kalvin Bahia is a Principal Economist in GSMA Intelligence, the definitive source of mobile operator data, analysis and research. In this role he is responsible for producing economic and statistical analysis on regulation, competition, spectrum and development topics. Since 2016, he has led the delivery of the GSMA’s Mobile Industry SDG Impact Report and the Mobile Connectivity Index, engaging with a number of international organisations such as the UN and the World Bank. Before joining the GSMA, Kalvin worked as a competition and regulatory economist at the UK telecoms regulator (Ofcom) and before that at the UK competition authority (Competition Commission). He has also previously worked as a development economist in the private sector, with long-term project experience in Vietnam, Fiji and Rwanda.
Debra manages the development and translation of content for the GSMA’s Capacity Building training courses and publications and works alongside the team to support the delivery of online and face-to-face courses. Debra is a lifestyle author, who prior to joining the GSMA, worked as a multilingual broadcast journalist and correspondent based in Paris. She has worked as a communications consultant and lecturer designing and delivering undergraduate and graduate training courses in universities and media school groups in London, Brussels and New York. Debra holds a BA in Journalism-Mass Media and Broadcasting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MA – PD in Hispanic Language Civilisations and Literatures from New York University.
